The effects of coffee <\/span><span class=\"s3\">and &#8211; consequently &#8211; of the<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> caffeine contained in it, are very incisive on our body. This <\/span><span class=\"s3\">substance, in fact, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">stimulates cardiac and nerve function, decreases appetite and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">induces<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> the <\/span><span class=\"s3\">slimming, increasing<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> the amount of calories burned by the body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"s3\">However, caffeine, like many other substances, can also be hazardous to our bodies if taken<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> In large quantities. When it is <\/span><span class=\"s3\">excessive, in fact, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">the stimulatory action<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> of the gastric system can <\/span><span class=\"s3\">cause<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> damage to the<b> digestive system<\/b>, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">while the stimulatory action of the cardiac and nervous systems can prove dangerous in individuals suffering from <b>insomnia, hot flashes and hypertension<\/b>.<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Therefore, for the preservation of our well-being, it is a good idea not to overindulge in caffeine intake.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>The study of adolescents<\/b><\/span><\/h5>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For the reasons just listed<\/span><span class=\"s3\">,<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0the<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><br \/>\n<b>University<\/b><br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b> of Foggia<\/b> carried out a study published in the journal <\/span> <span class=\"s3\">scientific<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> Acta Pediatrica, on about <b>1,200 adolescents<\/b> to ascertain what their actual coffee consumption is. <\/span> <span class=\"s3\">Students from four schools in the Foggia area were given an anonymous questionnaire, and the results showed that nearly half of the subjects surveyed, ranging from 12 to 19 years of age, make excessive caffeine consumption, often beyond the recommended limits.<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> <b>76 percent of the boys admitted to <\/b> <\/span><span class=\"s3\"><br \/>\n<b>take<\/b><br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b> caffeine on a daily basis<\/b>, with coffee predominating, followed by <\/span> <span class=\"s3\">from<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> soft drinks (34.3%) and energy drinks (2.3%).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">According to the study, adolescents consume on average<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> an amount of caffeine of <b>125.2 milligrams<\/b>, even reaching peaks of 126.3 milligrams in girls. <\/span> <span class=\"s3\">These data show.<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> that 46% of those tested exceeded the caffeine intake recommended by the<\/span><span class=\"s3\">U.S. Academy of Pediatricians <\/span><span class=\"s4\">(AAP)<\/span><span class=\"s3\">,<\/span> <span class=\"s3\">identified as<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> 100 milligrams. <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Among the factors contributing to increased caffeine intake, increased nervousness and agitation typical of adolescence play a crucial role.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s3\"><b>Angelo Campanozzi<\/b>, study coordinator, explains:<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> &#8220;These results could be used to set up an awareness campaign directed at reducing its consumption among adolescents.
