Ankylosing spondylitis

It can be described as a form of arthritis with inflammation in the spine that causes pain and over time, especially if left untreated, can cause a kind of attachment-fusion of the smaller bones of which the vertebrae of the spine are made.
Inflammation can also spread to the hips, knees or other joints or act on the heart, eyes or other organs.
Medicine unfortunately does not have a specific cure to counteract ankylosing spondylitis, but the only treatment is what the patient can personally do to alleviate symptoms and prevent the disease from worsening.
