Abdominal pain: what to do?

dolore-addominale

Many diseases can cause abdominal pain, but some conditions can be life-threatening and therefore require surgical treatment.

What to do?

  1. It is necessary for the victim not to eat or drink anything.
  2. Do not give laxatives and pain medications to the victim.
  3. If the pain is of the burning type, administer an antacid.
  4. The patient should maintain a comfortable position, usually with knees bent.
  5. Call for an ambulance if the pain is accompanied by abdominal injury, blood effusions, fever, pregnancy, or if the pain lasts more than 12 hours.
