Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice that combines movement, breathing and meditation to improve health and promote energy balance in the body. It is based on the concept of Qi (life energy) and Gong (work or cultivation), hence the meaning: working with life energy.
Qigong includes a wide range of exercises, ranging from slow, fluid movements to more dynamic and vigorous ones. The basic principles of Qigong include breath awareness, mental and physical relaxation, and concentration of attention. During the practice of Qigong, one seeks to cultivate a state of inner calm, harmonize the flow of energy and develop greater awareness of one’s body and mind.
