Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)has a history dating back more than 2000 years. TCM is based on a system of diagnosis that involves patient observation, interrogation and diagnosis of the wrists and tongue. In addition, TCM uses a range of therapies, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, food therapy, suction cup therapy (cupping) and Qigong. The theory behind TCM is that the human body is traversed by a system of energy channels, called meridians, along which vital energy, called Qi, flows. Health depends on the correct flow of energy in the meridians. Illness is seen as the consequence of a reduction or blockage of the energy flow.
Today, TCM is recognised and used in many countries around the world for the treatment of a wide range of diseases and disorders.
