Bladder cancer is one of the most common malignancies in adulthood in Western countries, especially in the male sex.
In most cases, it develops from the cells lining the inner walls of the bladder (urothelium): in this case, it is called urothelial carcinoma.
Other possible, less frequent forms of bladder cancer include squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma (which develops from the glandular component of the bladder).
Diagnosed and treated at an early stage, bladder cancer can be eliminated effectively, but after treatment, it is necessary to continue regular checkups because it is a neoplasm that tends to recur after some time.
