Varicocele is a venous malformation that results from loss of tone and elasticity of the veins that collect blood from the testis and carry it upward into the large venous vessels in the abdomen.
Depending on the severity of the venous insufficiency and the extent of the resulting blood stagnation, three degrees of varicocele severity are recognized: from grade 1, milder, to grade 3, more severe.
