The causes of hemolysis can be different. A simple peripheral smear may indicate severe ongoing hemolysis. The most common symptoms are pallor and modest skin jaundice and treatment will have to:
- Promote diuresis and prevent hypovolemia through fluid administration
- Transfer the patient to a transfusion center
- Treating anemia resulting from red blood cell distribution
- Preventing the occurrence of intravascular coagulation
- Inform the patient about foods and substances to avoid.
