Polyps are abnormal growths of tissue protruding to a mucous tonaca; they are pathological growths that, in the intestines, form especially in the colon and rectum.
For the most part, these are not dangerous formations, but in some cases they may be tumors or, if they are not, they could become tumors: for this reason, when they are visualized during a colonoscopy they are usually removed and analyzed.
Polyps can occur in isolation or in very dense formations, producing diffuse forms of polyposis in some patients.
