Cataracts

step-1_fonte-Centro-Oculistico-Reggiano

Cataract is an eye condition brought about by opacification of the lens of the eye, the lens that is passed through by light directed to the retina and essential for vision.

When the lens becomes opaque, it is no longer possible to see clearly, and one experiences a sensation similar to trying to look through fogged glass.

Cataracts generally begin after age 60 and are extremely common in old age, creating serious discomfort in daily living, with reduced autonomy and overall quality of life.

Typically, cataracts first appear in only one eye, but over time they tend to affect the other eye as well.
