Keratitis is an ocular condition caused by inflammation of the cornea, the transparent membrane that lines the central anterior part of the eye, at the iris and pupil, and that is crossed by light directed toward the retina.
Keratitis can affect people of any age and be determined by a wide variety of causes, but it should never be overlooked: if treated properly right away, it heals in most cases without leaving permanent damage or visual deficits, which are possible if intervention is delayed or inadequate.
