Sepsis (or Septicemia) is a life-threatening condition. In short, it is an immune response so intense that it causes widespread inflammation throughout the body, which can lead to organ failure.
Cause
What are the causes of sepsis? Sepsis is usually related to a bacterial infection. In order to fight the infection, the body releases a large amount of chemicals into the bloodstream, so that these chemicals take over the body, extending the inflammation to all tissues, and causing insufficient blood supply to vital organs, thus leading to a condition of septicaemia or sepsis.
