Endometrial cancer is a neoplasm that develops at the level of the tissue lining the inner walls of the uterus and, for this reason, is also called simply uterine cancer, as it is the widely prevalent form among neoplasms at this level.
Rarely, sarcomas may also develop in the uterus.
Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic neoplasm in Italy and Europe; it can also develop in young women, especially if there is a family-based predisposition, but it generally tends to occur mainly after the age of 45-50 years and, especially, after menopause.
