Salt and the immune system

A study a few months ago by researchers at the University of Bonn found that a diet high in salt is not only detrimental to blood pressure, but also to the immune system.

It has been found, first in laboratory guinea pigs and later also in human volunteers, that too much salt reduces the immune system’s ability to defend itself against bacterial infections, which can occur more severely.
