Constipation

Problemi-intestinali-la-crusca

Constipation (i.e., constipation) is an alteration of the alvus characterized by frequent, difficult and apparently incomplete emission of stools of increased consistency. Usually in healthy adults, defecation occurs once every 24 hours with an expulsion of about 150 g of feces.

Functional constipation is defined as the presence of at least two of the following complaints for at least three months without taking laxatives:

  • Two or fewer weekly evacuations;
  • Need to force defecation;
  • Hard stool;
  • Feeling of incomplete evacuation;

Dietary advice: Nutritional treatment should be conservative, based on hygienic-dietary rules with increased fiber and satisfactory physical activity. A combination of fiber may have a better effect than bran alone.
