Time, ability, and sometimes financial resources: these are the main factors that influence the choice of a physical activity among the many available. To lose weight or address health issues, to achieve results, or to fight sedentary behavior… everyone has their own sport, choosing based on specific characteristics and the goals to be achieved.
Starting a physical activity, I need to move, I would like to lose weight, what can I do? Should I go to the pool or choose running? Should I join a gym or is walking better? There is no universal answer; it all depends on individual abilities, available time, and sometimes financial resources. Those with health issues or those needing to stimulate their metabolism may limit themselves to 30 minutes of physical activity per day. Those who want to achieve results in terms of physical and athletic performance should dedicate at least one hour to each workout, and ideally every day. Aerobic sports are the most suitable for weight loss. Cycling, running, swimming, cross-country skiing, and rowing are the best solutions and accessible to everyone. Swimming and cycling are ideal for those with a significant overweight because running involves a traumatic impact with the ground and is not suitable for everyone. However, running has the advantage of offering the best ratio of results to time spent, and it allows for good calorie consumption with a relatively low time commitment. You can start from home, and it requires little equipment, making it an affordable sport. Anaerobic sports such as squash, tennis, or team sports like soccer, five-a-side, and basketball, while very enjoyable, are less suited for weight loss because they do not involve a high consumption of fat reserves as an energy source. They do, however, have the advantage of promoting social interaction and, from a physical standpoint, they improve athletic performance in terms of strength, speed, and reflexes.
