Hallux valgus is a deformity of the first toe, which appears deviated laterally toward the other toes, with simultaneous medial protrusion of the first metatarsal bone. This bony deformity is usually associated with constant or recurrent inflammation of the mucosal bursa that lies at the base of the hallux implant itself. The main symptom of hallux valgus is the presence of pain, which reflects a change in the anatomy of the foot.
