Strabismus a pathological condition that causes misalignment of the eyes, which are then found to be looking in two different directions to a greater or lesser degree. There are types that are not severe, such as Venus strabismus, and varieties that definitely affect vision instead.
What is strabismus: causes and symptoms
The visual system is a perfect machine and based on the symmetry of the eyes: vision works because of the precision of the visual axes, which transmit the two different images then processed by the optic nerve and joined so that they are interpreted both in the subject and in their presence within space. When the visual axes are not perfectly aligned and one eye looks in a different direction than the other, this is called Strabismus, a condition is caused by malfunction of the extrinsic eye muscles, which make it difficult or impossible to orient each eye on a specific target and as a result affect binocular vision and depth perception.
