Personality can sometimes play a decisive role in the modulating the effects of adversity. Scholars have observed individuals submissive and neurotic and gave rise to the so-called psychology of the positive, which draws its reflections from the study of people who have imposed in life with firmness, clear ideas and right flexibility. These studies now allow us to say that having goals helps to addressing life’s problems in more positive terms.
Research on stress by psychologists has shown that the same environment, event, and situation can have different effects on different people. Being aware of one’s resources and having good self-regard are the basic prerequisites for alleviating the effects of work stress. Moreover, each individual acts on the basis of his or her own motivations, so it is possible to pursue goals or to feel content with the positions achieved. In many people, restlessness prevails and they go in search of something different that can stimulate them. In workplaces, one often finds a silly conflict, an inner restlessness that pushes some people into competition. Healthy inner growth is an important challenge for the future as it means having new ideas, being curious and eager to learn, being able to listen to others and knowing oneself.
