Since last January, a fake news has been circulating on the web (which, like all fake news, derives its strength from the fact that it colludes with a more or less conscious desire or belief of those who carve it out and embrace it) that a nice hot bath can be a viable alternative to moderate physical activity, such as a jog.
The news would refer, misunderstanding, to a study conducted at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom and published in the journal Temperature.
The study had as its focus the effects of body temperature on metabolic disorders in order to be able to identify possible new treatments. Within this framework, the researchers ascertained that, for those with reduced mobility a hot bath (40°) with its calorie expenditure of 140 Kcal per hour (but the figure is theoretical because the temperature should be constant throughout), could be an alternative, bringing metabolic benefits.
