The term labyrinthitis is often misused to refer to dizziness and subsequent nausea; in reality, the true cause of these disorders is often different (much more common is, for example, Ménière’s syndrome).
True labyrinthitis is an inflammatory disorder of the inner ear (or labyrinth). Clinically, this disease causes balance disturbances and may affect one or both ears; in addition to posture problems, the affected patient may experience hearing reduction and tinnitus.
