Osteoporosis

step-1_fonte-Starbene

According to the World Health Organization (1993) definition, “Osteoporosis is a pathological condition characterized by loss of bone mass and qualitative deterioration of bone tissue, resulting in an increase in its fragility and, therefore, the risk of fractures.”

Osteoporosis is an extremely common condition globally, among both women and men (however, affected to a much lesser extent than the female sex), especially from the age of 45-50 years, and mainly related to the presence of vitamin D deficiency and inadequate lifestyle in terms of diet, physical activity, smoking and alcohol consumption.
