It is important to make a distinction between those stomatomucoses that can be traced to local etiological factors and stomatomucoses that are the local manifestation of general systemic diseases of infectious type (measles, chickenpox, diphtheria, typhoid, AIDS), dysmetabolic type (diabetes, uremia), dyshormonal type (pregnancy, menstrual cycle), deficiency type (hypo- and avitaminosis), and blood diseases (leukemia, hemophilia).
In this article we will discuss only those with more common manifestation involving milder complaints, leaving out the more severe and more obvious stomatomucosites, which are of decidedly more clinical relevance.
