Early stages, line of development and mental illness 2

October 28, 2021

How much can experiences of abandonment, deprivation, or trauma affect both psychic development and brain organization and development?

This course will emphasize how deep is the imprint both organic, on the organization of brain tissue, and psychic of early life experiences. The findings of the past 15 years concerning the development of the “connectome,” studies on the brain organization of highly deprived institutionalized children, and those concerning the incidence of Adverse Childhood Experiences on the developmental line are illuminating in this regard.

The experience of speakers who have been dedicated to this field for decades will reinforce our awareness of both the immense possibilities of early intervention, especially on trauma and deprivation factors, and the need to limit the possible damage that certain organizations, ways of thinking and operating procedures can do to individuals and the community.
