Epithelioma is a tumor due to abnormal growth of epithelium, which corresponds to the tissue that lines the surface of all hollow structures and organs in the human body (from intestinal epithelium to the endothelium of blood vessels, from the epithelium of the respiratory tract to that lining the uterus or the conjunctiva of the eye, to the skin).
Depending on the type of epithelial cells involved, epithelioma can be of two types: basocellular or spinocellular (also called “squamous cell”).
