The term dermatitis refers to a fairly heterogeneous group of skin diseases, largely characterized by more or less pronounced inflammation and induced by a wide variety of causes (irritation, allergic reactions, dietary deficiencies or excesses, etc.), but never contagious.
Mild and moderate forms of dermatitis represent a fairly common disorder, in people of any age, characterized a general skin discomfort, usually associated with dryness, redness, inflammation and sometimes lesions of various types (blisters, small cuts, scabs, etc.).
The main types of dermatitis that people may encounter are atopic dermatitis, contact or irritative dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, and dermatitis herpetiformis.
