This device is equipped with a respiratory mask connected to a tube. In order to function properly, it must be secured to the head with some wrap-around belts, which can be annoying or uncomfortable for some patients, so much so that it too is an impediment to sleep.
A suitable lifestyle
Much can be achieved as results against apnea by properly modifying one’s lifestyle habits, following some basic behavioral guidelines.
It should be known that smoking should be avoided at all costs, as it causes muscle relaxation in the throat, which will then obstruct the passage of air.
Obesity is usually the most responsible factor for snoring and sleep apnea. A gradual loss of excess weight improves the condition of muscle relaxation due to the decrease in fat present around the airways. Sleep promoted by regular breathing ensures healthy rest and full recovery of energy.
Tonsillectomy
It is known that in certain cases increased volume or hypertrophied tonsils can be obstructive to breathing during sleep and cause sleep apnea. Intervening surgically to remove them can be totally or at least partially resolving, improving breathing and decreasing the frequency of apneas.
